Café 20.3 on the Bayou

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I hope you are having a great day. School starts today so I hope your kids are ready. I’m not, but we have to do what we have to do.

I have big news for you. I have partnered with EatLafayette. So now, they send me to places and I eat there and tell you all about it. So here is the first place they sent me to, Café 20.3 located at 1500 General Mouton, Lafayette, LA 70501.  I was so excited I checked it online before going, but when we got there the coolest thing about the spot wasn’t ready, the tables by the bayou.

But it was okay because the inside was nice, a bit small but nice. I got bacon 🥓 cheese 🧀 fries 🍟 for a starter. I liked it. The cheese was melted and it was seasoned well. I also ordered a kid’s meal, the bacon cheeseburger 🍔. It was huge. I could barely finish it. It was delicious. The bun was great and the bacon was crispy.

I also had a lemonade and it was good as usual. My sister ate a grilled cheese with bacon and she loved it. Mom had the strawberry 🍓 mango smoothie and she loved it also.

I got to speak with the manager, and he was very nice. I suggested they add alligator to the menu because the place has Cajun food, might as well add alligator. He told me the outside should be ready soon. I give this place 4 starts. That’s that ladies and gentlemen have a great day.

The Kritic says:

  • 4 starts
    • The place is very small, but it’s cool and clean.
    • The manager and the two ladies that served our table were very nice. But one of the ladies messed up my order (she should have written it) and we had to wait longer for my burger. But it was okay because the manager fixed it.
    • The food tasted very delicious.
    • My food was free, but I still looked at the prices. The portions are big and the prices are very affordable.
    • The outside wasn’t ready, but when is ready that would be a cool place to chill. But bring mosquitoes repellent.

Thank you for reading my blog guys. Did you know that if you say “EatLafayette” when you go to many restaurants you get a discount? Awesome right? Want to know more? Check out EatLafayette now.

American Road Trip: The Competition

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I hope you are having a great day. Today was my last day taking the cooking classes at Sur la Table. It was also the day I competed. I was very nervous, but the new Chef, Chef Nick, made all of us have fun and feel relaxed. For four days Chef Jasmine was the one teaching us. But anyways, cleanness first, so we all got there and got our aprons and washed our hands. We then checked the ingredients. We couldn’t have recipes and we didn’t know our teams or the secret ingredient.

We then had to pull numbers and few people were missing but we ended up with two teams. Boys vs. Girls. Everybody on team one, got ground beef as protein, and everybody on team two got chicken as protein. We had ten minutes to discuss, decide what we were going to cook, and then get pots and all the material we needed. We decided to make the sliders and whoopie pies. The girls decided to make BBQ chicken with Alabama sauce and berry crostata.

Chef Nick then came and told us that we were being judged on five things: teamwork, station cleanness, taste, presentation, and how we used the secret ingredient. The secret ingredient was honey.

After much cooking and some help from Ms. Deborah and Ms. Dorothy we presented to the judge our final products decorated with lettuce (the sliders) and with cocoa (pronounced coco) powder and powdered sugar.

We tied on team work, stations cleanness, and on the usage of the secret ingredient. But the girls got better taste and the boys got better presentation. When I asked who won overall, he said it was difficult to say because both teams had strong dishes, but I think it’s obvious my team won. Well that’s that ladies and gentlemen have a great day. Checkout Sur la Table cooking classes, and make sure to keep cooking, going out to restaurants and trying new food. Also, check my day one, day two, day three, and day four.

American Road Trip: West Coast

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

Hope you are having a great day. This is day four of my cooking classes at Sur la Table. Today we did food from the West Coast. Before I tell you what we did, make sure to check my blogs from day one, Easy Coast; day two, my neck of the woods, the South; and day three, the Midwest.

So back to today. Today we made baja grilled shrimp 🍤 tacos. But here is the cool part that I liked and thought I wouldn’t like,  we had to add some cabbage and carrots to the tacos. Then I made a salad 🥗 with jicama, orange, and avocado. It was so delicious. I was surprised.

For dessert I did berry crostata, fancy for berry pie. That’s it ladies and gentlemen, competition tomorrow and I must practice and study. Enjoy the pictures and come back tomorrow to check how I did in my first (of many) competitions.

American Road Trip: Midwest

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I hope you are having a great day. Today was my day three of cooking classes at Sur la Table. I am loving this more and more. Today I made sliders (fancy name for a small burgers)🍔 mash potatoes with bacon and cheese 🧀 and ice cream. It was so much fun.

I’m now going to study my recipes because the competition is on Friday and I’m getting nervous, so I have to practice and practice.

Enjoy the pictures and think about how cool it is to focus one day on East Coast, another day on the South, and another day on the Midwest. There are so many dishes in the US, you are not living life if you are not getting out there and trying these foods.

Talk to you guys tomorrow. Thank you for checking my blog.

American Road Trip: The South

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I went back to Sur la Table for day two of my cooking classes. I made BBQ chicken with green beans. For dessert I work hard on a peach cobbler. The chicken was so good that I have sad news for you, I ate it so fast that I didn’t get to take pictures of it. But I will probably make it again and I will show you guys then.

Enjoy the pictures of the other stuff I made, check back to see how I do for the rest of the week, and click here to check my post on day one of my cooking classes, the East Coast.

American Road Trip: East Coast

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I’m back and straight to more fun. I hope you are having a great day. Today I’m in Houston and taking cooking classes.

The place is called Sur la Table and it is a store and a place to take cooking classes.

My mom registered for this class a long time, it is called “American Road Trip” and it’s awesome. For five days I will be cooking American food. Now guys, when I say cook, I really mean cook. We cook our own food.

Today I did chicken and pasta. The chicken had mozzarella that we cut by ourselves and melted it by ourselves too. We also made the pasta and used a pasta making machine to cut it.

To make the chicken we made an assembly line, we took the chicken and put in the egg, then put crumbs on it and then cooked it.

When we ate it, the chicken was the best… because I was helping make it with my team. I think I will have to show my mom how to make it.

Guys I suggest you take this class, it is fun and educational. Come back tomorrow to know what I cooked and to find out if it was fun or not.

Have a great day,

Kritic
