Jerk Can’t Be Express

Hello ladies and gentlemen, I hope you are having a great day. Sorry I haven’t been posting because of school, but no school today, so here is my opinion about a place I checked out last week – Jerk Express. Jerk Express is located at 1000 W Simcoe St., Lafayette, LA 70501 and is open everyday of the week except on Mondays.

The inside was really nice, it gave me a Jamaican vibe, but they did not play any Caribbean music thou. I was very excited to taste the food, but when I got it I was disappointed. I ordered jerk wings and my mom ordered jerk chicken with rice and yams. The food was way too spicy and the jerk sauce had too much vinegar. That was in no way, shape, or form jerk chicken. My dad is from Grenada, my mom friends are from Trinidad & Tobago, Bahamas, Antigua, St. Kitts & Nevis, Haiti and Jamaica. I have tasted jerk chicken cooked by different people and that was definitely not jerk chicken. It missed the typical sweetness that all jerk chicken have. But it still tasted good.

That’s that ladies and gentlemen. Check my blog tomorrow too because I will be on vacation still and I will post something.

The Kritic says:

  • 2.5 Starts
    • The place looks cool, but they don’t have tables and they have a big TV but don’t have music or movies from the Caribbean.
    • Service was fast and one of the owner’s, Ms. Stephanie, was very nice. I enjoyed talking to her.
    • The prices are also okay.
    • The food wasn’t what it was supposed to be, but it tasted okay. It was very spicy and maybe kids won’t like it.
